MY BACKGROUND

I have conducted over 300 mediations and  settlement conferences. Before becoming a full time mediator and ADR Neutral, I was a litigator for 33 years. As a former partner in in Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal (now Dentons) and LeBoeuf, Lamb Greene & McRae, two prominent national law firms, I handled a wide variety of complex civil matters in trial and appellate courts including employment and discrimination claims, real estate and business disputes as well as insurance coverage and bad faith lawsuits. Several of these cases were resolved through mediation.

In addition to my private mediation practice, I serve as a mediator and early neutral evaluator in the federal court ADR Programs in the Bay Area (Northern District) and in Sacramento and Fresno (Eastern District). I am also on the mediation panels of the US Bankruptcy Court (Northern District) and the California Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District.

ABOUT MEDIATION

Mediation allows you to resolve a dispute efficiently, economically and confidentially. But resolutions do not come easily. They must be negotiated with sensitivity to the parties' requirements and concerns. Each resolution must be tailored to the facts and dynamics of the specific case.

My goals in mediation are the same as yours: a fair proceeding and a satisfactory outcome. I work closely with all parties to achieve a negotiated end. I listen intently, communicate clearly, and bring patience, perseverance and neutrality to a case. All participants will be fully heard, and all positions considered. I absorb information quickly and know when to probe, and when to streamline the process.  When I schedule a day of mediation, I will devote the entire day to just your case and will stay as long as it takes to make sure that a mutually satisfactory resolution can be achieved.
